Waiver Granted

Tuesday, November 17, 2020

Dear Parents,

We are thrilled to let you know that we just received notification from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health that we have been approved for the TK-2nd Grade Waiver. We are committed to working in partnership with all of our families to create a pathway to bring our 2nd grade students back to campus in the very near future, and also provide additional and more consistent opportunities for our 3rd and 5th graders.

For the current week we will keep the plans already in place, with second grade coming to campus this Thursday (November 19) and third and fifth coming to campus on Friday (November 20).  We will be working out plans for next week and for weeks immediately following the Thanksgiving break, and be back in touch with each grade to discuss these plans, and the schedules going forward through winter break.

As we continue to bring more of our students back to campus, we continue to urge and ask all of our to familiarize themselves with the current guidance from the LACDPH regarding holiday travel and observances and from the State of California.

Please note that it is currently the policy of our school that if you child travels outside of the United States, prior to their return to campus they must quarantine for 14 days from the date of return to the United States.  We will be sharing some additional guidance in terms of holiday travel from the CDC and LACDPH in coming days, as we expect these to change given the current case counts in California and Los Angeles County.

As we enter the holidays we ask all of our families to be aware of the CDC guidelines that discuss the risks to exposure of COVID19.  They include:

  • Being in an area that is experiencing high levels of COVID-19, including destinations with a Level 3 Travel Health Notice. You can check the Travel Health Notices for recommendations for places you have traveled, including foreign countries and U.S. territories. You can also check states, counties, and cities to determine if these areas are experiencing high levels of COVID-19.
  • Going to a large social gathering like a wedding, funeral, or holiday party.
  • Attending a mass gathering like a sporting event, concert, or parade.
  • Being in crowds, for example, in restaurants, bars, airports, bus and train stations, or movie theaters.
  • Traveling on a cruise ship.

We know these are unusual times and everyone is making sacrifices, and we recognize how challenging that can be.  But we are grateful to you all as we work in partnership, to ensure that we all help our community remain safe and healthy, and we ask everyone to make the best choices that enable all of our families, faculty and staff to remain safe and keep school open.

We thank everyone for their patience and understanding.

Yuri
