Dear IRDS Families,
Happy Thanksgiving! Our Ilan Ramon Day School Community has so much to be thankful for. Thank you for your support over the past couple of weeks. It has been heartwarming to see our community come together committed to rebuild our beloved school.
I wanted to take this opportunity to provide you with an update of what has been going on over the past week. We have settled into our temporary site at Etz Chaim and our teachers have been working hard to set up their spaces and prepare to welcome your children on Monday morning. Many of your children have spent the last couple of days there and have been able to start to explore and begin to get comfortable in the new space.
While more information will be coming out right after Thanksgiving, I wanted to share the revised school hours for our time at Etz Chaim. The school day will now begin at 8:15 and end at 3:05. However, those who need to arrive earlier and stay later will be of course be accommodated.
As for our beloved school campus, we have begun the cleanup process and debris removal from the buildings destroyed have been hauled off campus. Once this process is finished over the next few days, we will turn our attention to the remeditation process inside the classrooms.
We are excited to see progress being made and will continue to share more photos with you in the coming weeks.
We are all excited for Monday, having the students back in school, and resuming their learning. Please watch for additional emails before and after Shabbat providing you with information you will need for Monday morning.
For those who will need support with transportation to and from Etz Chaim, or are willing to offer carpooling support to others, please reach out directly to Kim Freund (kfreund@ilanramon.com) and indicate whether you will need help or can offer help. We will use this information to better determine the overall needs of our community and how to accommodate our families over the next few weeks.
We are #IRDSStrong and will rebuild our school. Our school is a sacred and special community, founded 25 years ago, because visionaries, believed that our community needed its Jewish soul to be nurtured. We are a truly special and sacred community, and I am so proud of us all.
The Administration, Staff and Board of Directors is thankful for you, our community. We wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving and a Shabbat Shalom.
Sincerely,
Yuri Hronsky
